I'm Wylecia Wiggs Harris, chief executive officer of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and I'm excited to welcome you to At the Table. This new blog is a place to explore the food, nutrition, and health issues affecting people and communities every day.

Nutrition is at the center of many of today's biggest health conversations. But with conflicting headlines, fast-moving trends and advice coming from everywhere, it can be hard to know what to trust. Through At the Table, we'll take on questions and claims about nutrition, with science and evidence as our guide.

We'll help make sense of what you're seeing and hearing, put new research and trends into context, and explain why developments in nutrition, healthcare and public policy matter. Along the way, you'll hear from Academy leaders, nutrition and dietetics professionals, health experts, partners, and other guest contributors.

In case you're not familiar, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the world's largest organization of nutrition and dietetics professionals. We represent over 112,000 credentialed practitioners, including registered dietitian nutritionists, or RDNs, and nutrition and dietetics technicians, registered, or NDTRs.

RDNs and NDTRs complete extensive education and training to earn and maintain nationally recognized credentials. They know how to take nutrition science and turn it into practical guidance people can use in their everyday lives. And their work goes far beyond hospitals and clinics. You'll find nutrition and dietetics professionals in schools, public health, research, government, businesses, community organizations, and many other settings.

In the months ahead, At the Table will explore the issues shaping nutrition today. We'll look at fads and misinformation, explain new research and innovation, and highlight the work of RDNs and NDTRs.

We'll also give readers a deeper dive into the Academy's work through initiatives such as A Seat at Every Table, Nutrition Fact Check, National Nutrition Month®, and Food as Medicine.

Questions about food, nutrition, and health will continue to evolve. We hope At the Table becomes a place you can turn to for clear context and expert insight.

We invite you to join us at the table.
