The dietetics profession has shifted towards the registered dietitian performing more diverse roles. Along with this shift, many dietitians have expanded their practice as specialists and advanced practitioners. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has sought to define these new roles, resulting in the development of the Scope of Practice. This has laid the foundation for defining the functions and roles of RDs as generalists, specialists, and advanced practitioners in a variety of focus areas, including diabetes care.
This module should enhance dietitians' understanding of the Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance in diabetes care and provide practical application of these standards.
Planned with the Diabetes Care & Education Dietetic Practice Group (DPG).
