This comprehensive practical guide provides information on food practices for 15 cultures. Each chapter focuses on a particular culture, including such factors as diabetes risk factors; traditional foods, dishes, and meal plans; special holiday foods; traditional health beliefs; current food practices, and more. Culturally appropriate counseling recommendations are also discussed. A list of common foods including nutrient evaluations is included for each culture. A CD-ROM including culturally specific client education handouts round out the book.

Award Winner

The ADA is pleased to announce that the publication Cultural Food Practices received an EXCEL Award.

Association Media & Publishing recently announced the winners of the 30th Annual Excel Awards, which honor the best and brightest in association media and publishing.

One-hundred seventy-five winners, representing 91 non-profit organizations and associations were selected from nearly 1,000 entries. Winners were chosen for displaying exemplary work in editorial, design, advertising and marketing, online publishing, mobile applications, digital editions and electronic newsletter categories.

Cultural Food Practices received the Bronze Award in the Technical Book category. Judges looked for “Best writing, content, graphic design, photographs and overall packaging of a professional/technical book or textbook.”
