National Nutrition Month® is a federally registered service mark of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. To protect this mark, the "®" symbol should be used after the words "National Nutrition Month" to indicate its registration status. Promotion of National Nutrition Month® is encouraged, but only in accordance with the published guidelines below. Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.

The mark "National Nutrition Month®" may be used to promote National Nutrition Month® to the general public or to companies and organizations which serve the public, or to refer generally to National Nutrition Month®. The term "National Nutrition Month®" cannot be used to promote companies, services or products not associated with the Academy. The words must never be altered in any way.

Permission is granted to broadcast media and publishers for use of the mark "National Nutrition Month®" for use with publicity focusing on the campaign. The use of Academy NNM press releases is encouraged, as long as they are repurposed in their entirety and the content is not altered in any way.

National Nutrition Month® campaign materials purchased from the Academy for free distribution to the general public may be imprinted with the message "distributed by [name of company, association or organization]."

Graphics and art for National Nutrition Month® are also copyrighted. Graphics and related materials may not be copied, reproduced or altered in any medium, including, but not limited to, electronic mail, social media or websites.

Written permission must be obtained from the Academy to reproduce the graphic on non-educational, non-print materials. For example, this includes T-shirts, mugs, online videos or photos, and any other promotional items.

To use approved social media artwork created and distributed by the Academy (i.e. Facebook cover photo, Twitter header image, etc.) visit the Social Media Toolkit. Written permission is not required to use the social media graphics if used in accordance with the guidelines above.

Usage of the NNM graphic on websites is only permitted by State Affiliates and Dietetic Practice Groups of the Academy. However, written requests to use National Nutrition Month® and its artwork in an online article about National Nutrition Month® that provides a link to www.eatright.org may be permitted. An alternate option is to link to www.eatright.org/nnm using one of the web banners in the National Nutrition Month® Celebration Toolkit.

NNM bloggers may use the NNM widgets on their website and do not need to request permission to do so. To download the widgets, visit the National Nutrition Month® Blogroll and to be added to the list of NNM bloggers, send an email to [email protected]

We will begin accepting permission requests on November 27, 2017.
