MEMBER GUIDELINES

ADA offers an electronic market site, called Eat Right Marketplace where ADA members can promote member owned products and services to other ADA members, non-members, and the public. Listings may include publications, educational services, technology, continuing education materials, or other like products or services so long as, developed or owned by members of the ADA. Products or services may have a fee associated with them. DPG/MIGs may also list products produced by the DPG/MIG on this site.

PROCEDURE

1. ADA develops guidelines for inclusion and monitoring of products/services, a submission form, and a list of acceptable product/service categories.
2. Membership will be verified prior to posting of an products/services on the market site.
3. All market site products/services must be wholly owned or copyrighted by the ADA member. Products produced by ADA members for a non-profit organization (e.g., health care facility) that holds the copyright, must have written permission from that organization for a product to be included in the market site. Permission must be submitted with the submission form.
4. ADA reserves the right to refuse market site inclusion of a product whose nature/content may be considered discriminatory, personally offensive or otherwise unacceptable.
5. Inclusion of a product or service should not be considered as endorsement of the product or service by the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
6. The ADA reserves the right to evaluate all statements and visual images in product/service submissions and to refuse to accept any that do not conform to ADA policy or philosophy. ADA staff shall make every effort to ensure that all member market site submissions are based on scientific principles, evidence based dietetic practice and current information.
7. If testimonials are included in a listing, the statements shall be neither false nor misleading.
8. Statements regarding products shall not discredit or disparage another product. All statements must be accurate and must not be misleading, exaggerated, deceptive, open to misinterpretation or contrary to proven accepted facts.
9. Statements of properties, performance, nutrient values, etc., must be supported by adequate data and/or be a recognized health claim by the FDA.
