The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and A.S.P.E.N. released new recommendations in September 2011 for the identification and documentation of adult malnutrition. Widespread use of these criteria will help to standardize the diagnosis of adult malnutrition and provide more accurate estimates of its prevalence, incidence. This teleseminar will provide participants with knowledge and practical tools needed to design comprehensive, team-oriented systems for effective recognition and documentation of adult malnutrition.
Objectives:
- Apply the Academy/A.S.P.E.N. characteristics recommended for the identification and documentation of the occurrence of adult malnutrition.
- Identify the critical roles of the health care team in providing and tracking the myriad of services needed by this high-risk population.
- Explain the organizational infrastructure that must be in place to optimize the diagnosis, documentation of incidence, and financial impact of adult malnutrition.
