Academy Partner Releases Report on Preventing Heart Disease and Stroke

The National Forum for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, a coalition of more than 75 organizations including the Academy, has released "The Public Health Action Plan to Prevent Heart Disease and Stroke: Ten-Year Update." The report details progress in preventing cardiovascular disease incidence and risk, and offers a series of actions to realize the full potential impact of these programs.

The report highlights seven action priorities for 2014 and beyond. They include the need to communicate to legislators, policymakers and the public the importance of building on the prevention and public health provisions included in health reform, and the need to make full use of resources for education and training of the prevention workforce.

The National Forum for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention seeks to build a collective voice for a heart-healthy and stroke-free society through its collaborative policy and programmatic efforts. The Academy joined the National Forum in early 2014.
