Ask Your Friends and Family to #SupportTROA

For the first time ever, the Academy has created a public link for community advocates to take action to support the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA). Please share widely and encourage others to advocate for improved treatment for seniors who suffer from obesity.

TROA would increase seniors' access to intensive behavioral therapy (IBT) for obesity and ensure older Americans receive multidisciplinary, coordinated care to manage their condition. It would also allow registered dietitian nutritionists and other qualified practitioners to independently bill for IBT services outside of, but in conjunction with, the primary care setting. Please email, tweet, post or blog this link today with the hashtag #SupportTROA.

The Academy has met with over 60 members of Congress in Washington, D.C. to advocate for passage of the bill. In addition, Academy members all across the country are also speaking with members of Congress to discuss the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act. Affiliates leaders have met with 16 Senators and Representatives in district offices, urging them to support this significant bill.

Do your part: Ask Congress to support of the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act.
