Gluten-Free Market Webinar: April 18

Product safety in the gluten-free market; the impact of obesity on cancer survivorship; and applying the Nutrition Care Process in public health practice are just some of the upcoming webinar topics that offer members CPE from the convenience of office or home.

  • April 18: "Burgeoning Gluten-Free Market: Ensuring Product Safety"
The gluten-free market is skyrocketing. Sale of gluten-free foods is expected to reach 5.5 billion by 2015. Ingredients that were once relegated to products found only in natural food stores are making their way into foods sold in your local grocery store. What do you tell your clients with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity about these products and their appropriateness for gluten-free diets? This webinar will use plant taxonomy, current labeling laws and testing data to discuss the safety of the myriad of gluten-free foods available today.
  • May 10: "Obesity, Energy Balance and Cancer Survivorship"
This webinar will address how and why obesity has negative impacts on cancer prognosis and survivorship. The attendee will learn why patients may gain weight during treatment and how medical and lifestyle approaches can be used to better manage the positive energy balance that contributes to weight gain during and after cancer treatment. The speakers will discuss the role of the registered dietitian in facilitating neutral energy balance and prevention of unhealthy weight gain in the oncology patient and cancer survivor populations.
  • June 25: "Application of the NCP and IDNT: Enhancing the Value of Your Work in Public Health/Community Nutrition"
Two registered dietitians with extensive and varied experiences in public health/community nutrition will highlight the ways that the Nutrition Care Process and its complementary standardized language, the International Dietetics and Nutrition Terminology, can be fully implemented in a variety of settings and circumstances in public health/community nutrition practice. Participants will learn how the NCP and IDNT will play a critical role in enhancing the value of nutrition services; demonstrating to key stakeholders how those services are valuable; and preparing for shifts in health care delivery as clinical and public health arenas become more integrated.

Each webinar will last from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Central Time.
