RD Medicare Providers to See Two Percent Payment Reduction

As a result of sequestration, effective with claims for dates of service on or after April 1, registered dietitians and other Medicare Part B providers paid under the Physician Fee Schedule will see a two percent reduction in payments.

The claims payment adjustment will be applied after determining coinsurance and applicable deductible Medicare Secondary Payment adjustments.

The 2013 Medicare Fee Schedule for Registered Dietitians posted on the Academy website does not reflect this mandatory payment reduction.

Questions about reimbursement should be directed to your Medicare claims administrative contractor. The Academy continues to advocate with members of Congress to take action to address the federal budget in a manner that preserves funding for vital nutrition programs and medical nutrition therapy services.
