CPE Available Via Webinars

New Academy/ASPEN guidelines on adult malnutrition; product safety in the gluten-free market; and the impact of obesity on cancer survivorship are just some of the upcoming webinar topics that offer members CPE from the convenience of office or home.

  • March 21: "Applying Academy/ASPEN Guidelines to Identify and Document Adult Malnutrition: A Change in Practice"
Be ready to apply the new ASPEN/Academy guidelines for the identification and documentation of adult malnutrition. Participants will learn how to integrate evidence obtained from reviewing the medical record, conducting a patient interview and nutrition-focused physical examination and other sources to determine the possible etiology, presence and degree of malnutrition.
  • April 18: "Burgeoning Gluten-Free Market: Ensuring Product Safety"
The gluten-free market is skyrocketing. Sale of gluten-free foods is expected to reach 5.5 billion by 2015. Ingredients that were once relegated to products found only in natural food stores are making their way into foods sold in your local grocery store. What do you tell your clients with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity about these products and their appropriateness for gluten-free diets? This webinar will use plant taxonomy, current labeling laws and testing data to discuss the safety of the myriad of gluten-free foods available today.
  • May 10: "Obesity, Energy Balance and Cancer Survivorship"
This webinar will address how and why obesity has negative impacts on cancer prognosis and survivorship. The attendee will learn why patients may gain weight during treatment and how medical and lifestyle approaches can be used to better manage the positive energy balance that contributes to weight gain during and after cancer treatment. The speakers will discuss the role of the registered dietitian in facilitating neutral energy balance and prevention of unhealthy weight gain in the oncology patient and cancer survivor populations.

Each webinar will last from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Central Time.
