Academy Submits Comments on CVD Evidence Review

The Academy has offered comments to the United States Preventive Services Task Force on its draft proposed framework for conducting an evidence review of studies related to behavioral counseling to promote a healthy diet and physical activity for cardiovascular disease.

USPSTF will review evidence to update its 2003 recommendation for "intensive behavioral dietary counseling for adult patients with hyperlipidemia and other known risk factors for cardiovascular and diet-related chronic disease [that] can be delivered by primary care clinicians or by referral to other specialists, such as nutritionists or dietitians."
