Academy Hosts Landmark Meeting with National Primary Care Provider Associations

The Academy took a leadership role and convened representatives from national primary care provider associations for a February 12 meeting to explore opportunities and challenges of integrating registered dietitians into new primary care provider-led health care delivery models.

The meeting resulted in the identification of four initial areas for future collaboration to strengthen RD/PCP partnerships.

The following associations were represented at the meeting: American Academy of Pediatrics; American Academy of Family Physicians; American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Medical Association; American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; and American Geriatrics Society. Funding for the meeting was generously provided by the Commission on Dietetic Registration as part of its goal of promoting the value of the RD.

More information will be published in Eat Right Weekly as the implementation plan unfolds.
