Member Receives International Award for Professional Accomplishments, Volunteerism

Academy member Stella E. Cash, MS, MEd, RD, was named the recipient of a 2012 ATHENA Leadership Award by the Lansing, Mich., Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The ATHENA Leadership Award is given in recognition of "professional excellence, community service and actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills." Ms. Cash was honored for her "vast professional achievements, her passion for helping people – particularly as a role model and mentor to women – and her deep commitment to the community."

Ms. Cash worked for 28 years at Michigan State University. For more than 20 years, she was director of the didactic program in dietetics and worked as coordinator of scheduling and academic affairs in the department of food science and human nutrition.
