Academy's Modern History Available in the Journal

In anticipation of the Academy's upcoming centennial in 2017, the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is publishing a series of articles that update the Academy's history from 1990 to the present. The first of these articles are published in the November issue of the Journal, with the series continuing through 2016.

In the series, find answers to questions like: "In what year was the Academy's first official strategic plan implemented?" (Answer: The first strategic plan, "Achieving Competitive Advantage," was implemented in 1991, though the Academy had worked with strategic planning since the mid-1980s.)

The November articles focus on an introduction to the series and the governance arm of the Academy, with many photos taken from the Academy's archives. Next will be the history of dietetic practice groups, member interest groups and affiliates, which will be published in February 2013, followed by an article on the Commission on Dietetic Registration later in the spring.

Email the Journal with any questions.
