Foundation Corporate Award

ConAgra Foods received the Foundation's Corporate Award at the Kids Eat Right Gala at the 2012 Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo in Philadelphia. The Academy Foundation established the Corporate Award in 1985 to recognize and express appreciation to corporations and corporate foundations that have a long history of support of Foundation programs and projects.

This year’s recipient, ConAgra Foods, has shown an exemplary commitment to the Foundation’s mission of advancing public health and nutrition using RD expertise. ConAgra Foods has supported numerous initiatives of the Foundation. Its support of the scholarship program helps alleviate the financial burden for students. It has also supported Kids Eat Right though FNCE booth activities and sponsorship of the first ever Kids Eat Right Shop Cook Eat Summit. ConAgra Foods also partnered with the Academy on the Home Food Safety Program, an initiative that provides reliable information about foodborne illness in the home.

This year, ConAgra contributed over $45,000 in scholarships through its Food Safety Student Challenge. These scholarships were awarded to students who developed innovative strategies to promote food safety on college campuses. “I was able to implement a program focused on the Home Food Safety campaign for resident assistants at Middle Tennessee State University,” said award recipient Shayna Smith, RD, LDN. “I sincerely appreciate your efforts to give back to the community to educate students on food safety.”

Thank you to ConAgra Foods for its continued support of the Academy Foundation.
