Consumer Protection: Priority for Affiliates

Licensure boards continue to be the target of state budget cuts and many states are facing increased opposition to efforts aimed at protecting consumers through licensure laws. The Academy and Commission on Dietetic Registration recently sponsored a comprehensive workshop on issues impacting licensure and scope of practice and offered a scholarship for each state affiliate.

Workshop attendees will incorporate the information into each affiliate's annual work plan and agenda. Affiliate representatives also attended the Council for Licensure Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR) annual conference, which included sessions on issues impacting licensing boards and regulations in the states.

More information on licensure and certification.
