RDs Can Help Improve Maternity Care Practices and Breast-Feeding Rates

Ninety hospitals in the U.S. are working to improve maternity care practices under the "Best Fed Beginnings" National Initiative for Children's Healthcare Quality project.

"Many of the hospitals have identified nutrition services as a stakeholder in the next phase of the 22-month program, which focuses on improving breast-feeding rates in the U.S.," says Jeanne Blankenship, MS, RD, vice president of policy initiatives and advocacy and past chair of the United States Breastfeeding Committee. The Academy supports breast-feeding and has a formal alliance with USBC.
