RDs Gear Up to Fight Childhood Obesity: Expanded Insurance Coverage in Georgia

Registered dietitians in Georgia are primed and ready to tackle childhood obesity in their state, thanks to the Georgia Dietetic Association.

GDA recently held a hands-on credentialing and reimbursement workshop dedicated to ensure members are set for expanded coverage for RDs in the State Health Benefit Plan. With the help of the Academy, RDs in Georgia worked with the governor’s office during the planning stages to include pediatric obesity counseling reimbursement for accredited nutrition professionals.

Both the Academy's Policy Initiatives and Advocacy and Nutrition Services Coverage teams continue to advocate in Washington, D.C., for recognition of RDs and nutrition services through national health care initiatives.
