Upcoming Webinars

Members can earn CPE credits at upcoming webinars on whole grains and cancer prevention.

  • September 12: "Whole Grains: Overcoming Barriers Between Scientific Evidence and Consumer Behavior." Scientific evidence associates whole-grain intake with lower risk of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes and obesity – leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the U.S. – and is the basis for current recommendations. Yet disparity continues between the evidence and consumer intake. This webinar will examine the scientific evidence, highlighting outcomes of recent summits and conferences; look at current whole-grain recommendations, including how whole grains are positioned on ChooseMyPlate.gov and intake levels; discuss barriers to and opportunities for increased intake of whole grains; and suggest practical strategies nutrition professionals can apply in their practice settings to help individuals obtain essential nutrients, different types of fiber and important phytochemicals.
  • November 8: "Cancer Prevention: Research-Based Solutions in Your Clients' Kitchens." This program explores how both obesity and diabetes increase the risk for several types of cancers. Evidence for a plant-rich diet will be discussed, as will mechanisms of action of cancer-fighting phytonutrients. Learn to identify and communicate the various levels of recommendations listed in the expert report "Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Cancer: A Global Perspective" from the World Cancer Research Fund and American Institute for Cancer Research.

Each webinar will last from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Central Time.
