Senior Nutrition Programs Celebrates 40th Anniversary

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the addition of Senior Nutrition Programs to the Older Americans Act. To recognize this important date and to discuss how to improve services to seniors, the Administration on Aging in partnership with the Meals on Wheels Association of America recently held a summit on aging and nutrition in Washington, D.C.

The summit featured experts in nutrition and aging, including Academy member Marci Harnischfeger, MS, RD, who spoke on the ways technology is working to improve service delivery and nutrition education. Important topics also included how to improve upon best practices; reforming the system to focus more on health outcomes; promoting healthy food choices; and reforming options in the face of a more diversified population.
