Academy Authors Contribute Expertise on Fiber

An article co-authored by Academy members, summarizing an expert roundtable discussion on fiber that was hosted by the Academy in October 2011, has been published in the Journal of Nutrition as an "open-access" article that can be downloaded by non-subscribers to the journal.

"Filling America's Fiber Intake Gap: Summary of a Roundtable to Probe Realistic Solutions with a Focus on Grain-Based Foods" highlights the need for consumer and professional education to improve acceptance for and inclusion of grain-based foods with added fiber as one strategy for increasing fiber intakes within daily energy goals.

The article appears in the July 1 issue of the Journal of Nutrition. Co-authors include Academy members Roger Clemens, DrPH, CNS, FACN; Sibylle Kranz, PhD, RD; Amy R. Mobley, PhD, RD; Theresa A. Nicklas, DrPH; Mary Pat Raimondi, MS, RD; Judith C. Rodriguez, PhD, RD, FADA, LDN; Joanne L. Slavin, PhD, RD; and Hope S. Warshaw, RD, BCADM, CDE.
