Member Honored in Let's Move! Video Competition

Academy member Marjorie R. Freedman, PhD, MS, professor in nutrition, food science and packaging at San Jose State University, received an honorable mention in the recent Let's Move! Communities on the Move Video Challenge.

The challenge invited faith-based, community and other nonprofit organizations working with children to create short videos highlighting their participation in Let's Move! and efforts to reverse the trend of childhood obesity. Ms. Freedman's video "describes the collaborative effort between San Jose State University and Most Holy Trinity Church ... to promote the key messages of Let's Move! to address the high rates of overweight and obesity in a low-income population comprised primarily of ethnic minorities (Vietnamese, Filipino, Hispanic and Samoan) living in East San Jose."
