Pan-American Nutrition, Food Science and Technology Awards

The global baking company Grupo Bimbo, based in Mexico City, Mexico, has announced the call for applications for the 2012 Pan-American Nutrition, Food Science and Technology Awards, established in 2004 to promote and support innovation and research projects throughout the Americas.

The awards are part of the company's "Committed to your Health" program, created in 2003 to improve the health and well-being of consumers. The program is based on initiatives put forth by the World Health Organization's Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health.

The deadline to submit a research project is August 17. All entries must be received through the initiative's website, which contains detailed contest rules and eligibility requirements. Eight awards will be presented in the field of nutrition and eight in the field of food technology. The total pool of prize funds is $56,000.
