35th Annual Food Policy Conference

Academy member Karen Ehrens, RD, LRD, vice chair of the Academy's Legislative Public Policy Committee, will be among the speakers at the 35th annual Food Policy Conference, taking place May 17 and 18 in Washington, D.C. The conference is an opportunity for collaboration among the food industry, consumer advocates and the government, and is a key annual gathering for those interested in agriculture, food and nutrition policy. Topics this year will include voter attitude on food and nutrition issues, competitive foods in schools, improving nutrition for competitive foods, food safety and food biotechnology.

Ms. Ehrens will take part in a panel discussion titled "Is It Time to Dramatically Alter U.S. Farm Policy?" Speakers will explore better aligning farm policy with dietary guidance, ensuring better protection of environmental resources, reducing the impact on food availability and cost in developing countries, and reducing federal spending.
