Management in Dietetics Featured in May Journal Supplement

Management is a field targeted in recent years by Journal readers and editors as needing more representation. For the past year, the Journal has published articles on management and they are now assembled into a freestanding supplement that will accompany the May Journal.

Deborah D. Canter, PhD, RD, LD; Kevin L. Sauer, PhD, RD, LD; and Carol W. Shanklin, PhD, RD, LD, collaborated on the introduction, which reads in part: "The Journal reprints in this special issue illustrate the value and importance of management and leadership in addressing the complex issues facing our profession and our world. These articles are a reminder that management practice in dietetics is alive and well; that there are standards of management practice which are defined, rigorous and applicable to any area of dietetics; and that dietetics positions with a strong management orientation can provide the scaffolding for a satisfying and lucrative career."

The supplement includes 2 CPE articles and features the following articles:

  • Management in Dietetics: Are We Prepared for the Future?
  • Ethical Practice in Foodservice Management
  • Moving Into Management
  • Management Matters
  • American Dietetic Association Standards of Professional Performance for Registered Dietitians (Generalist and Advanced) in Management of Food and Nutrition Systems (CPE)
  • Job Satisfaction of Dietitians with Management Responsibilities: An Exploratory Study Supporting ADA's Research Priorities (CPE)
  • Hospital Foodservice and Patient Experience: What's New?
  • Satisfying Customers and Lowering Costs in Foodservice: Can Both Be Accomplished Simultaneously
  • Sustainability in Foodservice Operations: An Update
  • Guidelines for Successfully Managing Organizational Change.
