Food & Nutrition: New Magazine and Website

The first issue of the Academy's Food & Nutrition Magazine is in the mail to members, and the magazine's new website foodandnutritionmagazine.org is up and running. Food & Nutrition reflects the diversity of the Academy: your interests and experiences, work settings and practice areas, backgrounds, perspectives and goals. It provides information and inspiration for members to be the most valued source of food and nutrition information and services. Members are encouraged to share their thoughts and reactions to this new publication and website.

The website's layout, graphics and navigation complement the print version and provide members with expanded stories and additional resources. As professionals working in food, nutrition and health, Academy members are natural sharers of information. Food & Nutrition's size allows for printing, photocopying and scanning, while a larger number of pages allows for expanded content and new departments. And the website allows you to email, tweet, "like," rate and comment on individual articles that you can share with clients, colleagues, students or community (and no passwords are required).

Share your thoughts, praise and suggestions—a reaction to a feature article, tips for practice, perspectives from personal experience or general feedback. Was a certain article particularly interesting? Helpful? Infuriating? Email FoodandNutrition@eatright.org and write "Letter to the Editor" in the subject field. On the new website, members can post their thoughts at the bottom of an article, give it a star rating, and share or tweet the page. Readers can also click on "The Magazine" and submit a letter through "Contact Us."

Every letter to the editor that is published in Food & Nutrition receives a prize. For National Nutrition Month, the prize is a $50 gift basket including an eco-friendly, lightweight cooler tote; iced coffee tumbler; ceramic soup mug; poly cotton apron; colorful nonwoven eco apron; mini-strainer for cans of vegetables, fruits or tuna; an easy-to-clean, ergonomically designed cheese grater; handy combo vegetable brush and peeler; body tape measure with BMI scale; and a clip-on pedometer to track steps, miles and calories burned.

Congratulations to the Food & Nutrition editorial and production team, consisting of Academy staff members from several areas including Strategic Communications, Membership and Books and Publications, for a stellar new publication and website that will quickly become indispensable resources for Academy members.
