Grassroots Excellence Award Winner Announced

The Academy's Legislative and Public Policy Committee and Political Action Committee are pleased to announce that Kay Mavko, MS, RD, LD, of Columbus, Ohio, has been chosen to receive the Academy's 2012 Award for Grassroots Excellence. Her award will be presented during the Academy's Public Policy Workshop, April 15 to 17, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va.

Ms. Mavko is the state regulatory specialist for the Ohio Dietetic Association. She worked as executive director of the Ohio Board of Dietetics for more than 13 years, led board activities and regulated the practice of dietetics in Ohio, one of the nation's premier dietetic licensure agencies. She has been active with the Academy in helping other states in their licensure efforts, including serving as chair of the Academy’s Work Group on Licensure, Scope of Practice and Competition. Congratulations to Ms. Mavko for her commitment and energy to the Academy and nutrition advocacy.
