National Farm Bureau Convention Produces New SNAP Benefit Policies

During the recent American Farm Bureau Federation convention, delegates from every state adopted proposals for the 2012 Farm Bill.

Action related to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program was taken on two separate votes. Delegates called for "the elimination of carbonated beverages from food available in/under assistance programs and those non-fruit, vegetable and dairy beverages with bottle deposits." And delegates rejected a proposal to oppose the use of SNAP at fast food restaurants since foods produced by Farm Bureau members are used.
