We Did It! White House Petition Tops 25,000 Signatures

Members responded to the Academy's call to petition the Obama Administration to urge the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to reconsider its ruling excluding registered dietitians from direct billing for intensive behavioral counseling for obesity. Thanks and congratulations to all who responded and put the Academy over the needed 25,000 signatures. What is next?

The Academy has already begun to prepare for next steps, including communications or a meeting with the Obama Administration. Now that the petition has reached the necessary number of signatures, the Administration will contact the Government Relations team in the Academy's Washington, D.C., office. In addition, the Academy is working with members of Congress to urge CMS to reconsider its decision.

Members who have not communicated with their members of Congress, please take action today.
