Occupational Outlook Handbook

The Department of Labor comes to ADA on an annual basis asking for data to include in the Occupational Outlook Handbook. We have already provided the Bureau with current professional data, e.g., practice audit results, compensation and benefit salary study results, education standards and credentialing requirements for the Handbook that is being updated for release in March 2012.

The OOH is a description of occupations within the United States. In addition, the Department of Labor has engaged a private research firm, Research Triangle Institute, to maintain an ongoing data collection and occupational information network system called O*NET. The section on Dietitians and Nutritionists was last updated in 2009 and data collection is expected to occur again in 2012. ADA's involvement in this effort is expected to take place soon. More information will be provided as this process moves forward.
