Agriculture Appropriations Head to Conference

This week, the House and Senate Conference Committee began to meet on the Agriculture spending bill. The two parties are in the early stages of identifying spending limits.

ADA has learned that the Collins-Udall amendment, preventing the U.S. Department of Agriculture from limiting servings of certain starchy vegetables in federally funded school meal programs, has made its way into the final language of the bill. The House and Senate bills are similar; however, the Senate version had more funding to ADA-related programs, such as $50 million more for food safety, $600 million more for WIC and $13.5 million more for the Emergency Food Assistance Program. ADA will continue to monitor the debate between the two chambers while advocating for fair funding for these essential programs.
