Partnership Extends ADA Reach on Capitol Hill

ADA's participation in the Prevention Fund Coalition, headed by the Trust for America's Health, ensures the voice of nutrition and dietetics in funding advocacy efforts.

The coalition, which includes ADA representatives, has met with approximately 60 Senators and plans to ultimately meet with all 100 members to inform them of both the need and benefit of the Prevention Fund.

On August 15, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the awarding of $449 million to strengthen state and local health departments by funding epidemiology, laboratory and health information systems. Financed in large part by the Prevention and Public Health Fund, the grants "strengthen State, local and territorial health departments' capacity to perform critical epidemiology and laboratory work, detect and prevent healthcare-associated infections and support immunization programs."
