Member Elected to AMA Committee Position

Jane V. White, PhD, LDN, RD, FADA, a member of ADA's Coding and Coverage Committee, has been elected alternate co-chair of the American Medical Association's RUC/HCPAC (Relative Value Scale Update Committee/Healthcare Professional Advisory Committee).

ADA has participated on the AMA Current Procedural Terminology and Relative Value Scale Update Committee Healthcare Professional Advisory Committees for nearly 10 years, since the inception of the Medicare medical nutrition therapy benefit and code creation. ADA's volunteer leader involvement has included representation by Ms. White and by Milton Stokes, MPH, RD, CDN, on both AMA committees.

ADA has been instrumental in helping to develop and value new codes that may be used by RDs in outpatient and private practice settings, as well as network and interact with officials from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other healthcare professionals from national associations.

Ms. White has represented ADA on the RUC/HCPAC for seven years. She has been instrumental in developing new codes and coding policies for RDs in outpatient and private practice settings. Her two-year term as alternate co-chair begins in September. Her responsibilities will include assisting with facilitation of the RUC/HCPAC meetings and filling the co-chair's functions if the co-chair is not able to participate. The AMA schedules three RUC/HCPAC meetings annually.
