Kids Eat Right Affiliate Challenge Calls on Members to Step Up for Their State

Members who recruit affiliate members to be Kids Eat Right Campaign Volunteers can receive a $1,000 grant from the ADA Foundation to use for the promotion of Kids Eat Right.

At the end of May, the five affiliates with the highest total percentage of enrollment of Kids Eat Right campaign volunteers each will receive $1,000. The percentage is based on the ratio of campaign volunteers to the number of members in each state, making it fair for both small and large affiliates.

This grant money can be used to promote Kids Eat Right in one or more of the following ways – or in a way that an affiliate develops:

  • Sponsor a Kids Eat Right presenter to conduct a session at your 2012 Affiliate meeting
  • Sponsor a facilitated webinar for members of the Affiliate
  • Recognize Kids Eat Right Campaign Volunteers in your state for their efforts in the area of childhood obesity
  • Provide mini-grants to members to deliver Kids Eat Right community presentations promoting quality nutrition.

How Can States Participate?

Information on Kids Eat Right is found in the campaign tool kit and can be adapted for newsletters, websites, electronic mailing lists, Facebook and Twitter and to maximize exposure at Affiliate meetings.

It is up to each state to promote Kids Eat Right and encourage members to sign on as Campaign Volunteers. ADA will track new volunteers by state, but all Campaign Volunteers regardless of join date will be counted in the final totals.

When will the grant money be received?

Updates will be provided throughout the challenge so affiliates knows where they stand. The top five states will receive the grant money in June. Members are encouraged to have fun with this project – tweet, twist arms, and use the spirit of volunteerism to rally the members in their states to join the campaign.
