New Online Certificate of Training Program in Restaurant Menu Labeling

The government's role in improving the nation's nutrition is now firmly established with nutritional labeling for restaurant meals now mandated across the United States as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act. To prepare members in this area, ADA's Center for Professional Development offers a new certificate of training program.

The program consists of four modules that build on each other:

  • Module 1: Legislative Background, the Law and Emerging Trends
  • Module 2: Menu Analysis
  • Module 3: Working with Restaurants and Entrepreneurial Ventures for RDs
  • Module 4: Putting Restaurant Labeling Initiatives into Practice With Clients and Consumers

To receive the certificate associated with this training, all four modules must be completed and participants must pass a final exam in Module 4 with an 80 percent score. The final post-test exam is online within the fourth module. ADA members enjoy a reduced rate of $19 for each module or may complete all four modules and earn eight hours of CPEUs for $76.

The course was developed in cooperation with the National Restaurant Association and the ADA Restaurant Labeling Work Group.
