Newly Updated EAL Guideline

ADA's Research & Strategic Business Development Team announces the updated publication of the Disorders of Lipid Metabolism Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice Guideline, which is free to all ADA members on the Evidence Analysis Library.

The updated guideline contains nutrition recommendations for individuals with disorders of lipid metabolism, including information on the following topics, among many others:

  • Medical nutrition therapy and nutrition assessment, monitoring and evaluation
  • Cardioprotective diet (omega-3 fatty acids, plant stanols and sterols)
  • Micronutrient intervention (antioxidant supplementations, homocysteine, folate and coenzyme Q10)
  • Behavior/physical activity
  • Corollary health issues (hypertension and metabolic syndrome)
  • Triglycerides.

The guideline contains systematically developed recommendations based on scientific evidence and is designed to assist practitioners on the appropriate nutrition care for individuals with disorders of lipid metabolism.
