Action Plan for Food Safety Education

Nearly three dozen leaders from multiple sectors met in Chicago at ADA Headquarters March 9 and 10 as part of a strategic initiative whose aims include development of a national plan of action for consumer food safety education. Goals are to reduce infections caused by key pathogens transmitted through food, and to address consumer and food handler practices.

The meeting was convened by the Partnership for Food Safety Education. ADA, a contributing partner of PFSE, hosted the meeting at the Association's Chicago Headquarters. Participants included representatives of ADA; NSF International; the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition; International Association for Food Protection; National Pork Board; and Institute of Food Technologists.
