Online Certificate of Training Program in Childhood Obesity

ADA and the Foundation are encouraged by the level of attention given to nutrition and physical activity by the White House and the First Lady's commitment to end childhood obesity within a generation. To prepare members to undertake this charge, ADA has developed its first online certificate of training program on childhood obesity prevention.

The program consists of three modules that build on each other:

  • Module 1: Childhood Obesity Prevention through Environmental Change: The RD's Role (2 CPEU hours)
  • Module 2: How Schools Work and How RDs Can Work with Schools (2 CPEU hours)
  • Module 3: The Registered Dietitian: Leading Prevention in Schools (2 CPEU hours)

To receive the certificate associated with this training, all three modules must be completed and participants must pass a final exam in Module 3 with an 80 percent score. The final post-test exam is online within the third module. ADA members enjoy a reduced rate of $19 for each module, or may complete all three modules and earn 6 hours of CPEUs for $57.

This course was developed as part of Kids Eat Right, an ADA/ADAF initiative supported in part by the National Dairy Council. Kids Eat Right is a member-driven public education campaign that encourages all members to get involved to insure that sound nutrition recommendations are part of all childhood obesity prevention efforts.
