Member Wins National Cooperative Extension Award

Judith L. Dodd, MS, RD, FADA, LDN, of Gibsonia, Pa., received the National Friend of Extension Award, the highest recognition presented by Epsilon Sigma Phi to an individual, recognizing outstanding support and personal involvement in Cooperative Extension efforts.

Founded in 1927, Epsilon Sigma Phi is dedicated to fostering standards of excellence in the extension system and developing the extension profession and professional, extending lifelong learning into the community through education programs and other initiatives. Ms. Dodd is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh, where she teaches a dietetic internship course that ensures students learn about Cooperative Extension "by inviting an educator to the classroom to discuss its history, the role of Educators, qualifications needed for employment and the wealth of research-based resources to citizens of the county and state. Over the past five years, dietetic students responded to internship opportunities, shadowed educators, and helped conduct programs," according to Epsilon Sigma Phi.
