Implementation Phase: National Physical Activity Plan

The National Physical Activity Plan, a coalition of organizations and individuals working to empower Americans to be physically active every day, has transitioned into the implementation phase following the Plan's release last spring. ADA is an organizational partner in the Plan, represented on its coordinating committee by Kim Crawford, PhD, RD, CSSD, assistant professor and coordinator of graduate studies in nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh.

"As you know, the American Dietetic Association supported this important undertaking by serving as an Organizational Partner," Russell R. Pate, MD, chair of the coordinating committee, recently wrote to ADA. "In that capacity, your organization provided financial backing that was critical to the project's success … With the report's launch the project has transitioned to a critical second phase. We are now focused on implementing the Plan … In addition, the National Plan Coordinating Committee is working to plan future updates of the Plan, to evaluate the Plan, and to increase awareness of the Plan … Thank you in advance for your continued support of this critical initiative."
