2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans to Be Released January 31

The U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services will hold a joint press conference on Monday, January 31, at George Washington University, in Washington, D.C., to release the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

The press conference will be at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. It will be broadcast live on the USDA website.

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will discuss the Guidelines and provide key insights into the new recommendations. Joining the Secretaries will be Robert Post, deputy director of USDA's Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion; and Rear Admiral Penelope Slade-Sawyer, HHS deputy assistant secretary for health disease prevention and health promotion. Immediately following the presentations, the speakers will take questions from the media, stakeholders, students and others in attendance.

Copies of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans will be available online immediately following the press conference.
