USDA Announces Changes to New School Meals

Foodservice directors should experience increased flexibility due to recent changes to 2012-2013 school meal standards that eliminate limitations on grains, meat and meat alternatives while keeping calorie levels intact. The Academy has met with USDA officials and will continue to play an active role in the implementation of the new standards.

"Bookend Generations" at Risk of Hunger

Last week, Generations United held a press conference to release its latest report on nutrition and hunger in America. The report found one in five children and one in 12 older adults are at risk of hunger and nearly one-fourth of Americans do not know how to access nutrition information.
