RDs Help Supermarkets with Calorie Labeling

Although current law does not require supermarkets to provide calorie content, a recent study indicates that providing calorie information to grocery store customers is feasible, especially when registered dietitians are on staff to conduct nutrition analysis. The Affordable Care Act rule on calorie labeling is being finalized and may include supermarkets. View the Academy's regulatory comments submitted to the Food and Drug Administration on July 5, 2011, regarding food labeling.
