Member Represents Academy Urging Congress to Restore SNAP Funds in Farm Bill

Report Card on Diabetes in America

The Affordable Care Act includes a requirement that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publish a report card every two years regarding the state of diabetes in America. The report must include data about diabetes and prediabetes, preventative care practices, risk factors, quality of care and diabetes outcomes. The Report uses 2010 data to present a profile of diabetes and its complications at the national and state levels.

Academy Submits Comments on Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

The Academy submitted comments to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality on AHRQ's Evidence Review for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. The Academy's comments were prepared with input from dietetic practice groups and with expert member review, and reflect Academy position papers and recommendations in the Academy's Evidence Analysis Library.

Recommendations for Revising CMS Long Term Care Conditions of Participation

The Academy submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recommending revisions to the series of regulations comprising the Conditions of Participation for Long Term Care facilities. Prepared with members of dietetic practice groups and the CMS Workgroup, the recommendations reflect Academy position papers, the new Dining Practice Standards and consistency with interpretive guidelines.
