Updating Nutrition Standards for Snack Foods Benefits Students

A new report by the Kids' Safe & Healthful Foods Project and spearheaded by Pew Research Center and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation found improving nutrition standards for snack foods and beverages sold in schools could help improve students' health. This report, known as the Health Impact Assessment (HIA), was released as the U.S. Department of Agriculture prepares to issue new policies that govern food sold in schools that are not included in the federal school meal program.

New Brief on Medicaid's Role in Covering Preventive Care for Women

In 2013, under the Affordable Care Act, the government will provide increased matching funds to state Medicaid programs to cover certain preventive services. The Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured surveyed Medicaid officials in all 50 states to collect data on state coverage of preventive services.
