Senate Passes "Minibus" Appropriations

The Senate has passed several appropriation bills that include agriculture and nutrition programs. The $128 billion bill is slightly higher than the House's for nutrition, food and hunger programs. To close this gap, a conference committee will begin working this week.

Senator's Letters to HHS and CMS Urge Same-day DSMT and MNT Services

Sen. Mark Kirk (Ill.) recently sent letters to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services urging them to utilize their discretion to allow beneficiaries with diabetes to receive both diabetes self-management training and medical nutrition therapy on the same day. Same-day services remove barriers to quality and access for beneficiaries and will improve health outcomes.

ADA Speaks Up on Essential Health Benefits Package
