The Super Committee created by the debt ceiling agreement is now in place. This Committee has the responsibility to achieve $1.5 trillion in additional deficit reduction by the end of 2011.

ADA Submits Pediatric Overweight Obesity Review Comments
ADA has submitted comments to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality at the Department of Health and Human Services related to methodology for AHRQ's evidence review of pediatric overweight/obesity research. ADA's comments reflect the insights offered by the Pediatric Obesity/Overweight EAL Workgroup and multiple Dietetic Practice Groups.
CMS Workgroup Is Up and Running
ADA's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Workgroup, under the auspices of the Legislative and Public Policy Committee, met August 17 to discuss ways to advance ADA's mission at CMS. Among other issues, the workgroup is focused on improving agency interpretations related to therapeutic diets and BMI, increasing coverage for MNT and developing consistent quality metrics across the continuum of care.
