Farm Bill Update

ADA staff will attend the next Senate farm bill hearing on June 23. The topic will be "Farm Bill Accountability: The Importance of Measuring Performance, While Eliminating Duplication and Waste." A full House vote on H.R. 2112 is expected as early as this week. Without any amendments to the bill language, it will cut $2.69 billion from agriculture discretionary spending.

ADA Supports Joint Commission as National Accrediting Organization

ADA has submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Studies on the Joint Commission's application for continued recognition as a national accrediting organization for critical access hospitals that wish to participate in the Medicare or Medicaid programs.

Obesity Week to Combine Science and Treatment of Obesity

The Obesity Society and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery have announced a new combined format for their annual meetings. The first five-day joint conference will be held in November 2013, including scientific sessions, policy and health discussions and other events.
