ADA Is a Member of Coalition For Health Funding
ADA's application for membership in The Coalition for Health Funding has been unanimously approved by the coalition's Board of Directors. The Coalition for Health Funding is a nonprofit alliance of more than 60 national health organizations, working in a nonpartisan fashion to ensure health discretionary spending remains a priority as Congress and the Administration develop the federal budget. Collectively, member organizations represent interests of more than 100 million patients, providers, public health care professionals and scientists.

Governors Lack Consensus on Medicaid

Both sides want more say in how states handle Medicaid, but there is a lack of agreement about how this can be achieved. Many governors favor loosely structured block grants while others disagree with this option. NGA leaders agreed to form a bipartisan committee to explore options that could be passed by Congress.

New Practice Paper on Health Disparities
Minority populations are in relatively poor health and are underserved by the nation's health care system, according to a new ADA practice paper that offers ways for food and nutrition professionals to develop methods to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities in providing health care.
Journal Article and Podcast on Nutrition Recommendations for Cancer Survivors
A commentary in the March Journal of the American Dietetic Association examines current evidence supporting nutrition recommendations for preventing cancer recurrence and managing chronic conditions prevalent in cancer survivors, as well as improving quality of life and decreasing health care costs. The commentary and an accompanying podcast discuss the importance and implications of "Evidence-based nutrition guidelines for cancer survivors: Current guidelines, knowledge gaps and future research directions."
RDs Invited to Participate in Nutrigenomics Education Survey
Researchers at California State Polytechnic University - Pomona are conducting a survey to assess registered dietitians' interest and needs in nutrigenomic continuing education. The results are expected to provide guidance on the best modes of delivery to meet RDs' needs in this area.
ADAF Hosts Breakfast at EB 2011
